BBW seeks Mate: Me; Rubenesque. You; Like Reubens

Drew these a while back - wasn't sure what I was going to use them for - and lo and behold, didn't use them for anything...... yet.

If you know me, then you already know of my soft spot for the big girls - especially the unapologetic sexy ones....

Uh - My eyes are up here, Jerk

Did this series of images for a set of silk-screened notebooks that I did. I called them 'Don't Peep' - I dunno, seemed funny at the time. But not all jokes stand the test of time. I mean, Designing Women is timeless, but watching Mork and Mindy these days just doesn't do it anymore, you know?

Simple Black Widow

Not the best quality photo, but hey, it's just a sketch. Was attempting to make something simple for screenprinting on notebooks. Got close to finishing this and realized... oh. Not simple.

Beast Rabban

Been reading Dune lately - yes, I admit it, even the new books. Gotta say, while some may hate Daivd Lynch's vision (some might even say it's the worst movie he ever did), I was marked by that movie - first from descriptions my mother gave me, all the while telling me it was too intense for me to watch; and later when watching it myself. So - the Beast, Rabban Harkonnen.

Krakenman

Just another one from the sketchbook. Been reading China Mieville lately and he describes a race of underewater dwellers - he does what many good writers do, and leaves much to the imagination. This is what came out of mine.

Cherry Darling

Poor, neglected blog. If you were a cactus, you would still be dead from my lack of attention.

Ahem....

So anyway, no new paintings to show - not done yet. But in the meantime, here's a little something from my sketchbook. It's Cherry Darling, of course. Because I love prosthetics, Rose McGowan, and to a lesser extent; zombies. But really, if there's one image that vies for attention with all those that were indelibly smeared on my brain while young and impressionable, it would be that of the woman with the machine gun for a leg.

Heget

Alright - this was a hard one. I worked and reworked and reworked this, but all through the process just couldn't get it right. I think the sky was the most challenging for me, and it wasn't helped by the composition. This was a real learning piece for me - and forced me to come to terms with not being happy with everything that I've done. That sometimes, a piece just won't live up to its potential, and you just have to wash your hands of it, and start over if the idea still appeals to you. So this painting is the one I had to wash my hands of. I'll post the newer (much larger) version later.

Anyway, Heget is an Egyptian deity, associated with frogs and fertility.
